Nancy Pelosi Outraged By Intel Panel’s Decison To End Probe Into Russia’s Interference In The Election

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is furious with Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee for their decision to conclude the investigation on Russia meddling with the election. She said that the move is “part of a disturbing pattern by the House GOP to obstruct and interfere with investigations into the Trump-Russia scandal.”

In a statement, Pelosi called GOP committee member and speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) out for permitting the committee “to make a mockery not only of the investigation, but the Committee itself.”

She argued that it is the panel’s duty to carry out a full investigation and answer all questions about election interference in order to provide the “American people a comprehensive and fair investigation into Russia’s attacks.”

She said, “Over the past year, I have repeatedly expressed concerns to Speaker Ryan about House Intelligence Committee Republicans’ lack of leadership and integrity. The Speaker has refused to insist that the Committee follow the facts.”

Pelosi continued, “House Republicans have abandoned their oath to support and defend the Constitution and protect the American people. Democrats will continue to take real, immediate action to secure our democracy.”

Ryan’s office emailed a statement to The Hill, which stated that Republicans are shifting their attention to protecting the integrity of November’s midterms.

Ryan’s spokeswoman also said, “After more than a year investigating Russia’s actions in the 2016 election, we are well into the primary season for the 2018 elections and experts are warning that we need to safe guard against further interference. That’s what this next phase is about and we hope Democrats will join us in seeing this through.”

After Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) announced that the committee would be concluding the probe, and that through their findings, there was no collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia, Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.) the committee’s top Democrat, slammed the decision, saying that Republicans were “[placing] the interests of protecting the President over protecting the country, and history will judge its actions harshly.”

As you can imagine, Trump was elated by this news, and took to his Twitter account to celebrate…a little too much, though:
